On the street, a black child watches Gingerbread selling balloons. His eyes are shining. There are balloons in all kinds of colors, red, blue, white, black, green, yellow…

Gingerbread notices the boy who hesitates, then takes his courage in both hands and gets closer.

“Say, Gingerbread, do the black balloons fly as high as the others?”

Gingerbread almost has tears in his eyes. He takes the boy in his arms, sits him on a low wall and says to him:

“Look!”

Gingerbread releases all his balloons which fly up, up.and up, in a cluster, so very high that they disappear in the sky.

“Did you see?”

“Yes.”

“Did the black balloons fly as high as the others?”

“Yes, Gingerbread.”

“You see, balloons are like people.
What’s important is not their color, it’s not the outside.
No, the important is WHAT THERE IS INSIDE THEM. It’s what is inside you that will make all the difference in your life.”

Georges Seurat, 1859 – 1891

Georges Seurat + painting = A PASSION

This artist paints in oil,
by the thousands,
tiny dots of primary colors

RED YELLOW BLUE

His painting technique is called pointillism.

Like circus people, Seurat, in his work, looks for
balance.

To reach it, he draws lots of sketches before using oil.

The circus artists had fun in juggling with some of the words in the following text. Your mission is to put them back in the right places !

equestrian tamer elephants tightrope walker somersaults -trapezists magician acrobats

The lions are looking for their ______________ who stopped to watch the fabulous ______________ of the ______________ !

Three enormous ______________ have also vanished and the show starts at 7 o’clock sharp.

Could it be a not so nice trick of our friend the ______________ ?

Oh! I can see the pretty ______________ , the nimble ______________ and the ______________ who are getting ready to enter the ring.

What a stunning show!

Being a juggler, a tightrope walker or a clown demands a lot of energy; so you must be in great shape and maintain it.

Warming up, recuperating, training and of course eating properly! It’s quite a program for an athlete. I can hear you say that you’re “fed up” with vitamins; that’s a pity, but I still suggest you have some deliciously sweet ones in :

The Potage Crécy for future acrobats

6 orange or yellow or red carrots (yes, they all do exist!)

1 small turnip

1 onion

1 leek

  • Cook them at least one hour in 3 litres of celery broth,
  • Add salt, pepper and parsley to your taste,
  • When all the vegetables are tender, puree them with a colander,
  • Put them back into the hot broth and gently stir,
  • Your Potage Crécy is ready to eat, with cream and croutons.
And off you go, back to exercising!
