The building of a house as a set for the Gingerbread Guild's
Kiosk at the Book Fair

How exciting!

On a Sunday afternoon in the spring of 2005, around 1:30 p.m. at the Larivières'
five pals under the direction of Lucie Landry decide to build
a cardboard house for Gingerbread.

Five pals and three supporting cats:

Gracielle Tessier 10, handygirl

Fléchanne Tessier 9, decorator

Richer-Raphäel Larivière 10, artist
Eugène Larivière 11, architect
Fléchelle Larivière 9, painter
Getting settled in the building workshop
Our materials:

Recycled cardboard boxes – paint – brass Parisian clips – chalk – wallpaper – brushes – adhesive tape –
wooden sticks – heatable glue – knife – fruit separator – computerized elements for the set.

Necessary equipment: salvage cardboard of all sizes
Hot-glue gun
Parisian clips
Delicate work; we solidify with Parisian clips
Eugène and Gracielle mount the structure of the house and add the roof
Richer builds and paints the chimney
The cats – Tarzan, Mine and Jane – encourage us with our project
Fléchanne et Fléchelle create the apple tree

The following week, we finish the decoration: painting, cutting and pasting.
Our set is 2 metres high and 3 metres wide and it is difficult to carry.

This activity is extremely pleasant for everybody; time flies.
Every one of us is satisfied and encouraged to go on with other recycling and building activities that we consider as real adventures.

The House has been realised to please the children who visited the Montcalm Book Fair.
The five of us took part in this creation as volunteers.

Conductor: Lucie Landry

Following their visit, the pupils of the Arc-en-Ciel School realised these fine drawings:
